Five to seven weeks for a six-piece set

Frames in solid nyatoh, kembang semangkok or European oak. Every leg meets the rail with a double-mortice-and-tenon joint, then is locked with a drawbore peg. Cross-stretchers are added on chairs intended for commercial use.
Backs are offered in three formats. Cane-work is woven on traditional bridle hoops by an outside specialist we have worked with for eight years. Slatted backs are spindle-turned in our own shop. Upholstered backs use a kapok-wrapped HR foam pad on a webbing base.

The default finish is a hand-rubbed natural oil that lets the grain breathe and develops a warm patina with use. Clients who want a more closed finish can choose a hard-wax oil, a water-based PU or a hand-rubbed shellac.
For commercial work we apply a two-pack catalysed lacquer that resists food acids, cleaning chemicals and the punishment of daily wipe-downs.
Caned and slatted chairs come with the option of a removable seat cushion in matching or contrast fabric, with ties or with a non-slip backing. Upholstered chairs are built with the pad in situ; reupholstery is straightforward when fabric eventually wears.
Tell us how many chairs and whether you want carvers. We will draw an opening sketch within the week.
