Table tops are book-matched from properly seasoned planks — never veneered onto particleboard. Joins between boards are tongue-and-groove, glued with marine-grade PVA and pressure-clamped overnight before they leave the joinery floor.
Legs meet the apron with mortice-and-tenon joinery, drawbored with a hardwood peg through the joint. The peg holds the joint tight even if the glue eventually creeps — the way a refectory table is supposed to be built.

We default to a hand-rubbed natural oil that lets the timber breathe and develops a warm patina with use. The finish is easy to refresh — a light sanding and another coat of oil restores it without a trip to a refinisher.
For dining tables that will see daily wine, sauces and hot dishes, we recommend a two-pack PU or a hard-wax oil. Both can be ordered in matte, satin or low-sheen finishes.
We hold a working stock of reclaimed cengal salvaged from old shop-house renovations in Penang and Ipoh. The planks vary in width, carry the marks of their previous life, and make for unrepeatable one-off tabletops. Stock and sizes shift — ask us what is currently in the timber room.
Send a wall dimension or a floor plan and we will sketch a table or a bench to match.
