Armchairs & ottomans

The construction

Armchair frames are jointed exactly like our sofas — mortice-and-tenon, dowelled, cross-rail glued and clamped on jigs. The seat deck is hand-tied on heavy-gauge springs, with HR foam and a feather sleeve above.

Arms are built up with horsehair-and-cotton wadding (or modern poly batting on a cost-conscious build) over a webbed and curved timber understructure. Buttoned backs are pulled tight by hand, with each button cord traced through the back of the frame and tied off.

Silhouettes we build most

• Wing-back — full or half wing, with optional shelter sides
• Tub-back — curved continuous back-and-arm form
• Club chair — low-arm deep-seated classic
• Slipper-back — armless, ideal for bedrooms and dressing corners
• Reading chair with shaped lumbar support
• High-back occasional chair (over 100cm tall)

Matching ottomans

Every silhouette can be paired with an ottoman in the same fabric and frame finish. Square, rectangular and round formats are available; rectangular ottomans up to 110cm long double as a coffee perch when topped with a removable tray.

Ottomans are built with the same eight-way tied seat decking as our sofas — not foam-on-plywood. Storage ottomans with a hinged lid and felt-lined interior are available on request.

Leather work

Our leather workshop runs two grades: full-grain Italian aniline for clients who want a soft patina and visible character, and a semi-aniline corrected-grain hide that is hard-wearing in family rooms. Samples post anywhere in Peninsular Malaysia at no charge.
