The construction

Every Dawnplex sofa begins life as a frame of solid nyatoh or kembang semangkok, mortised and tenoned with cross-rails dowelled at every junction. We do not use staples for structural joints — only for fixing webbing and dust covers.

The seat deck is hand-tied with eight-way jute twine over heavy-gauge zigzag springs. Above that sits a layer of 32-density HR foam, wrapped in a kapok-and-feather sleeve. The combination gives the sit a slight bloom — firm enough to push back, soft enough to settle into.

What changes per commission

• Overall dimensions tailored to your room (depth from 92cm to 115cm typical)
• Arm profile: track, English, scroll, Belgian or contemporary square
• Back style: tight-back, attached cushions or loose-cushion
• Seat fill: feather-wrap (default), pure HR foam, hybrid foam-and-pocket-spring, pure feather
• Leg detail: turned, tapered, block or recessed plinth

Silhouettes we build most often

Chesterfield. Deep-buttoned, rolled-arm classic. We offer a softened version with a slightly higher seat-height for clients who plan to spend whole evenings on it.

Track-arm. Clean, low-arm contemporary form. Looks especially well in performance bouclé or linen.

Belgian roll. Slip-cover friendly with a relaxed, slightly slouchy line. The best fit for a family room with young children.

Modular L and U. Built from individual modules so the piece can be reconfigured if you move — or extended later with a matching ottoman.

Daybed. A long lounging silhouette for verandas and reading corners. We have built versions in solid timber and in upholstery.
