Dawnplex is a small Selangor atelier of carpenters, upholsterers and finishers. We design every piece around the room it will sit in — the ceiling height, the timber it will face, the way the afternoon light moves across the floor.

Made-to-order, made the slow way
We do not warehouse stock. Each commission is drawn, mocked-up in foam and sample wood, then built only after you have signed off on the final swatch — so what arrives at your door is exactly what was promised.
Real kiln-dried timber
We work mostly in nyatoh, kembang semangkok and reclaimed cengal — properly seasoned to 9–12% moisture so frames stay quiet through Malaysia’s humid swings.
Honest pricing
Quotations itemise frame, fill, fabric, finish and delivery. You see exactly where ringgit go — no opaque mark-ups, no “designer surcharge” for a paint colour.

A workshop of fourteen people in Bukit Beruntung
Dawnplex was set up in 2012 by a third-generation upholsterer who had spent twenty years working for European furniture houses out of Klang. The intent was simple: shorter lead times, more honest material specifications, and the option to commission pieces that retail showrooms simply will not build.
Today the team runs a 5,800 sq ft shop with a dedicated upholstery floor, a six-bay timber room, a polish booth and a fabric library that runs to over four hundred swatches.

From a sketch on a Tuesday to delivery in your living room
A bespoke commission has four checkpoints — designed to give you the chance to redirect us before any timber is cut.

Brief
A studio visit or a Zoom call. We measure the room, walk through how the piece will live and capture the practicalities.

Drawings
Two iterations of CAD elevations, swatches in the post, and an itemised quotation. Nothing moves until you sign off.
03
Build
Frames, fill, upholstery, finish — all under one roof. You are welcome to visit mid-build to see the work in progress.
04
Deliver
White-glove delivery anywhere in Peninsular Malaysia. Our installers carry the piece, place it, and remove the packaging.

The questions clients usually arrive with
Most upholstered work is finished in six to nine weeks. Solid-timber pieces with hand-applied finishes sit closer to ten weeks. We confirm a delivery window the moment your final drawings are signed off.
Yes. We routinely deliver to Penang, Johor, Melaka and Ipoh through bonded transport. Sabah and Sarawak shipping is arranged by sea-freight on request.
Absolutely. Customer-supplied COM (cut of material) is welcome. We will measure your yardage requirement after the final shape and seat-cushion plan is agreed.
No fixed minimum. We have completed boutique restaurant fit-outs as small as twelve covers and full hospitality refurbishments running into three hundred pieces.
Frames and joinery carry a ten-year structural warranty. Foam, springs and webbing are warranted for three years against sag and breakage in normal residential use.
A fifty percent deposit confirms your slot in the build schedule. The balance is settled before despatch from our Rawang workshop. Bank transfer, DuitNow and credit-card payments are accepted.
